Conference on Ukraine’s recovery starts its work

Today, the Ukraine Recovery Conference started its work. The Roma Women’s Fund “Chirikli” takes an active part in this important event every year. This year, the conference is focused on four key dimensions:

European integration of Ukraine

A significant part of the conference is dedicated to Ukraine’s European integration. Among the issues discussed:

• Ukraine’s preparation for EU accession and the EU’s readiness to accept Ukraine.
• The rule of law, judicial reform and the establishment of an international compensation mechanism.

Panel discussion “European Integration Dimension: EU Accession and Related Reforms”

During the panel discussion, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna said:

“We have taken all the necessary political steps to start accession negotiations, made every effort to build internal capacity, successfully implement the reform agenda and conduct negotiations.”

Speech by a representative of the Chirikli Foundation

During the Q&A session, Daniel Gromyko, a representative of the Chirikli Foundation, stressed the need to implement the law on national minorities and the Roma National Integration Strategy as prerequisites for Ukraine’s rapprochement with the EU. He emphasized that the needs of Roma, who are internally displaced persons (IDPs), should be included in all reconstruction programs in Ukraine. Gromyko also noted that Roma, along with many other ethnic groups, are defending Ukraine and contributing to the acceleration of its European integration.
