Romani Day in Kharkiv

On April 7th, in Kharkiv, with the support of the GDPO “Chachimo,” a spiritual and educational meeting took place to commemorate the holiday on April 8th – International Romani Day. The event was attended by representatives of amateur and professional Romani musical groups, Romani NGOs, leaders and volunteers of the Romani movement from Eastern and Western Ukraine, and Russia.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around the tragic aspects of Romani history (including events of the Holocaust), the contemporary life of the Romani community, and what the future holds for this people. Representatives of Romani Christian communities shared how their lives changed after turning to God and talked about “God’s plan” for their people.

At the end of the meeting, all participants had the opportunity to find answers to their questions, engage in discussions over a cup of tea, and take part in collective “cultural activities” like singing and dancing.
