On July 11, 2025, in Rome, as part of the international Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2025), an important discussion took place focusing on the role of Roma and national minorities in Ukraine’s recovery. The event was titled “Ensuring Inclusion of Roma and National Minorities in Ukraine’s Recovery Process: Contribution to Social Cohesion and Reconciliation”.
The “Chirikli” Foundation co-organized the event and was represented by young ambassador Danylo Hromyk, whose speech became a significant contribution to the international dialogue. The event resulted from partnership between the Council of Europe, UNAR (Italy’s National Office Against Racial Discrimination), the Office of Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, and the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
The event reaffirmed that inclusion of the Roma community is not just a goodwill gesture but a strategic necessity for sustainable recovery. Representatives of vulnerable communities can serve as bridges to building new social cohesion and trust.
The “Chirikli” Foundation sincerely thanks all partners for their cooperation, the high level of discussion, and openness to genuine dialogue. We will continue supporting Roma youth and national minorities to ensure their voices are heard – both in Ukraine and internationally.
