Meeting with the Roma community of Borodyanka, Druzhnya and Pelipovychi

23/02/2025

On February 23, an important meeting was held with the Roma community from the town of Borodianka, as well as the villages of Druzhnya and Pelypovychi. This event provided an opportunity for dialogue, support, and finding solutions for those who suffered during the full-scale invasion.

Community Meeting and Support

The mediator of the Roma Women’s Fund “Chirikli”, Valentyna Zolotarenko, and the head of the NGO “Bakhtale Terne”, Tetiana Kovalenko, held a working meeting to listen to and support people who experienced some of the most terrifying moments of the war.

During the meeting, Roma families shared their stories, expressed their needs, and voiced their concerns. The occupation, brutality, and fear for the future have left a deep mark on their hearts.

Key Issues and Needs

The community highlighted several critical issues requiring urgent attention:

  • Moral and psychological support. Many people continue to suffer from the consequences of the stress and fear they experienced.
  • Material assistance. For some families, covering utility bills or purchasing medication has become a major challenge.
  • Document recovery. Some community members have lost important documents, making it difficult for them to access social benefits and medical services.

Working Together for the Future

This meeting was not just a work-related event for us—it was an essential part of the community’s life. We felt the pain, heard the stories that are impossible to forget, and saw hope in the eyes of those who refuse to give up.

We continue to work on supporting and assisting the Roma community because together, we are stronger!
