A meeting took place in the Kropyvnytskyi City Council between the Mayor Andriy Raikovich and representatives of the International Charitable Organization “Roma Women’s Fund “Chirikli”. Representatives of the Roma community met with the city’s leader to express gratitude for their cooperation and to propose collaboration on future projects.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Roma representatives presented an award to the Mayor as a token of appreciation for the successful collaboration between the city council and Roma mediators in supporting the Roma community.
“Not all cities have working groups dedicated to supporting and addressing Roma issues. The results of this work can serve as an example for other cities,” noted Zemfira Kondur, Vice President of the International Charitable Organization “Roma Women’s Fund “Chirikli”.
The attendees proposed that the city council join the National Alliance of Cities for the Development of Roma Initiatives, which is planned to be established within the framework of the “Roma 2” program of the Council of Europe in Ukraine.
The National Alliance will be created to coordinate the work groups of all administrations where they operate, aiming to implement projects in support of national minorities, including Roma.
Additionally, the organization’s representatives suggested that the city participate in the International Roma Day, scheduled for April 8. On this day, various events will be held throughout Ukraine to promote Roma culture and language.
The city council was requested to support the issuance of identification documents for representatives of the Roma nationality and to ensure quality medical examinations, as many families currently have young children with serious illnesses.
The Mayor and representatives of relevant departments emphasized that productive cooperation will continue in the future.
