On July 1st, a roundtable meeting was held in the premises of the Kirovohrad City Council under the chairmanship of the Deputy Mayor responsible for the activities of the executive bodies of the council, Vadim Dryha. The topic of the meeting was “Creating Adequate Conditions for the Protection and Integration of the Romani National Minority into Ukrainian Society.”
Representatives from the International Charitable Organization “Roma Women’s Fund ‘Chirikli’,” the City Department of Justice, the City Center for Social Services for Families, Children, and Youth, the Center for Registration and Temporary Stay of Homeless Individuals, the Migration Service, the Department of Family and Youth, the Departments of Education and Health, the Child Welfare Service, and the Romani minority took part in the discussion.
During the roundtable meeting, issues related to social protection, medical care, the restoration of necessary documents, and registration of Roma people residing in the territory of Kirovohrad city and the region were discussed. Additionally, the enrollment of Romani children in educational institutions was a topic of consideration.
As a result of the discussions, a decision was made to establish a working commission that would assist the Romani population in resolving urgent issues.
