On the occasion of this holiday, many countries around the world hold ceremonies, concerts, festivals, flash mobs, exhibitions, and meetings with officials.
On April 8, 2016, at 14:00, in honor of International Romani Day, you are invited to an official event organized by the International Romani Women’s Fund “Chirikli” and the Darnytsia District State Administration in Kyiv at the address: 11 Oleksandra Koshitsya Street, Kyiv (2nd floor).
The event will be opened by Hennadiy Sintsov, the head of the Darnytsia District State Administration, and Yuliia Kondur, the head of the International Romani Women’s Fund “Chirikli”.
For participants and guests of the event, there will be an exhibition titled “Life on the Edge of Survival,” prepared by Maxim Dzhum, a Romani mediator. The presentation on the history of Roma migration to Ukrainian territories will be delivered by Natalia Zinevych, PhD in History and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography and Source Studies named after M. Hrushevskyi of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Mykhailo Tiahliy, a researcher at the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, will speak about the lesser-known topic of the Nazi genocide of Roma during World War II. The Romani student youth will also present a musical performance called “Khamoro.”
Youngest participants of the event can look forward to surprises.
