In Search of Lost Meaning: Memory, Light, and the Experience of the Holocaust

28/01/2026

There are places and moments after which the world is never quite the same. And there is art that does not offer ready-made answers, but helps us grasp the stories that reshape how we perceive reality.

The exhibition project “In Search of Lost Meaning” speaks about the Holocaust, the tragedy of Babyn Yar, and contemporary experiences of violence as a shared existential challenge. It reflects on how, in a world where life has become fragile, people return again and again in search of grounding — in memory, dignity, and light.

Through testimonies, archival materials, the world’s first symphony dedicated to the Holocaust by Dmytro Klebanov, and more than 200 works by Matvii Vaisberg, the exhibition intertwines the personal and the universal. His cycle “Seven Days” traces a journey from darkness to light, from loss to remembrance.

A representative of the Romani Women’s Fund “Chirikli” was also present at the exhibition opening. The memory of the Holocaust is not only about the six million murdered Jews, but also about the Roma and members of other communities whom the Nazis sought to erase from existence.

We thank Babyn Yar and
Ukrainian House for the invitation and for providing a space for this essential conversation. We are also grateful to Ukrainian House / Ukraiński Dom for co-creating this project.

🕯️ The exhibition will run from January 28 to February 15, 2026.

If you feel ready — we warmly encourage you to visit.
