Helping Vulnerable Roma Families During the Coronavirus Crisis

Over 300 packages of food and sanitary-hygienic supplies were distributed in 3 regions of Ukraine across 10 locations (Chernihiv Oblast: Baturyn, Horodnia, Oster, Konotop, Nizhyn; Luhansk Oblast: Krmynna; Kyiv Oblast: Vyshenky, Pereiaslav, Ivankiv).
More than 300 packages of food and sanitary-hygienic supplies were distributed in 3 regions of Ukraine across 10 locations (Chernihiv Oblast: Baturyn, Horodnia, Oster, Konotop, Nizhyn; Luhansk Oblast: Krmynna; Kyiv Oblast: Vyshenky, Pereiaslav, Ivankiv).Roma mediators played a pivotal role in directly distributing packages to Roma families who have been severely affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The involvement of volunteers affiliated with “Chirikli” was essential for packing and dispatching the packages to all the aforementioned locations in 3 regions of Ukraine.

This initiative was supported by the International Renaissance Foundation within the framework of a special fund to respond to the coronavirus crisis.

The first phase of implementing this initiative involved procuring food and sanitary-hygienic supplies. The second phase included engaging volunteers affiliated with “Chirikli” to pack and send the packages to the 10 locations in 3 regions of Ukraine (Chernihiv Oblast: Baturyn, Horodnia, Oster, Konotop, Nizhyn; Luhansk Oblast: Krmynna; Kyiv Oblast: Vyshenky, Pereiaslav, Ivankiv).
