On 19 February, representatives of the Roma Women’s Foundation “Chirikli” took part in a meeting of the Alliance for Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Recovery in Ukraine. The Alliance brings together governments, international organizations, businesses, and civil society actors to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment across all sectors of public life.
The event was held in a hybrid format and focused on integrating gender perspectives into all investment and reconstruction projects in Ukraine. Representatives of the embassies of Germany, Poland, Croatia, and Ireland, as well as international organizations and financial institutions, shared their experience and outlined priorities for 2026.
Why gender matters in recovery
Ensuring gender equality is essential for the well-being of Roma families and for expanding women’s economic and professional opportunities. The integration of gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into Ukraine’s recovery framework is a prerequisite for building sustainable and equitable policies.
Since 1996, the Chirikli Foundation has been working to empower Roma women and promote gender equality. Through educational and advocacy initiatives, the Foundation contributes to strengthening civil society engagement in state decision-making processes and recovery planning.
