On March eighteenth, 2026, the team of the Roma Women Fund “Chirikli” joined a working meeting dedicated to integrating gender perspectives into the implementation of the Strategy for Promoting the Rights and Opportunities of the Roma National Minority in Ukraine until 2030.
The meeting brought together representatives of civil society organizations, mediators, and Roma community leaders to jointly discuss mechanisms for incorporating gender approaches into the strategy’s implementation.
The Role of Roma Women in Decision-Making
Special attention was given to ensuring equal access for Roma women to decision-making processes, resources, and social services.
Participants shared experiences in implementing local gender initiatives, identified priority areas for civil society organizations, and explored effective formats of cooperation between Roma women’s organizations and human rights and women’s NGOs.
From Dialogue to Practical Change
The work included interactive exercises, group discussions, and analysis of practical cases, contributing to real impact on local policies and development programs.
The Chirikli team believes that only joint efforts, active participation of Roma women in decision-making, and consideration of their needs in strategic documents can create conditions for full integration of the Roma community and ensure real gender equality.
