As part of the cooperation between Darnytskyi District State Administration of Kyiv and the ROMED2 program, an event was held to commemorate the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Romani Genocide.
On August 3, 2015, an event took place at the premises of the Family Reading Library No.160 to mark the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Romani Genocide. During the event, there was a meeting of the library staff from Darnytskyi District with Nataliya Zinevych, a candidate of historical sciences and a collaborator of the Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies, Mykhailo Tiaglyi, the managing editor of the journal “Holocaust and Modernity: Studies in Ukraine and the World,” and Zemfira Kondur, the vice-president of the Romani charitable foundation “Chirikli.”
Participants of the event had the opportunity to become acquainted with photos and video materials, historical documents related to the history of Romani population in Ukraine and the tragic events of World War II. Discussions also took place on topics concerning the current situation of the Romani population in Ukraine and prospective plans for integrating the Romani community into the social life of Darnytskyi District.
