On June 5, 2026, representatives of the Roma Women Fund “Chirikli” participated in the 5th Feminist Forum, which brought together women’s rights defenders, activists, and allies of the women’s movement from Ukraine and abroad.
The Forum focused on the global struggle for women’s rights and gender equality at a time when women’s rights face growing challenges worldwide. At the same time, the Ukrainian feminist movement continues to respond to the realities of full-scale war, humanitarian crises, national recovery, and European integration.
Ukraine’s Experience in the Global Feminist Movement
A key topic of the Forum was how the experience of Ukrainian women and women’s organizations can be more effectively represented in international feminist discussions. Participants explored ways to strengthen the visibility of women’s voices and expand opportunities for women’s participation in decision-making processes at both national and international levels.
Particular attention was given to the role of women’s organizations in responding to the consequences of war, supporting affected communities, and contributing to Ukraine’s long-term recovery and democratic development.
Gender Equality and European Integration
Discussions also addressed international gender equality policies, women’s rights diplomacy, and the impact of European integration processes on strengthening democratic institutions and human rights protections.
Participants emphasized the importance of ensuring that gender perspectives are integrated into recovery programs, policymaking processes, and broader efforts aimed at building a more inclusive society.
A Shared Declaration for International Advocacy
One of the most significant outcomes of the Forum was the collaborative work on the Declaration of the Ukrainian Feminist Movement on the International Stage. The document aims to strengthen coordination among organizations and advance Ukrainian priorities within global discussions on women’s rights and gender equality.
The initiative seeks to unite organizations around shared principles and reinforce collective advocacy efforts at the international level.
Visibility of Roma Women
For the Roma Women Fund “Chirikli,” participation in the Forum was an opportunity to contribute to the collective voice of the Ukrainian women’s movement and to ensure that the experiences, challenges, and priorities of Roma women remain visible within broader discussions on equality and human rights.
Chirikli continues to advocate for the inclusion of Roma women’s perspectives in policymaking, advocacy initiatives, and gender equality efforts both in Ukraine and internationally.
