As part of the cooperation between the NGO “Chiricli” and Darnytskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, a greeting event was held for children at the Romani camp

Every year, a Romani camp is set up in the Darnytskyi District of Kyiv (located at 13-d Teplovozna Street). The Roma people live in inadequate and unsanitary conditions. Almost every Romani family is large and has many children. The children are forced to live in such conditions because unfortunately, they have no other option. Representatives from the Darnytskyi District State Administration and law enforcement agencies of the Darnytskyi District in Kyiv regularly visit the Romani camp for preventive purposes.

However, every government and law enforcement official always remembers that children of any nationality are still children who require special attention and support.

Therefore, on December 31, 2014, a small New Year celebration was organized for the children of the Romani camp. They received gifts from the Acting Chief of the Darnytskyi District Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv, Mr. Zharikov O.O., representatives from the Darnytskyi District State Administration, and the Chief of Staff of the Administration, Mr. Lelyuk R.V.

Lelyuk Roman Valeriyovych stated: “Our task, as the district administration, was to ensure that no child in the Darnytskyi District is left without attention. Giving gifts is a wonderful educational and psychological moment. It’s done so that children feel care and concern not only from their parents but also from the people around them.”

Greeting the children in the Romani camp is a new practice for the district. However, the Chief of Staff of the Darnytskyi District State Administration is convinced that such events will develop in the future and become a regular occurrence.
