Dear friends, colleagues, and partners, today we join Roma communities around the world in celebrating International Roma Day – a day that unites us in pride for our unique culture, history, and the shared aspiration for a dignified future. This celebration reminds us of the power of unity, the beauty of diversity, and the importance of respecting the rights of every individual.
The Roma Women’s Fund “Chiricli” has been defending the rights of Roma people for over 30 years, with a special focus on Roma women who, every day, overcome challenges while preserving the warmth of their families, traditions, and communities. Our name “Chiricli”, which means “little bird”, symbolizes freedom, hope, and the desire to fly – and we believe that everyone has the power to spread their wings and pursue their dreams.
This year, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all those who support Roma communities in Ukraine and around the world. Even in times of hardship, Roma people remain an integral part of our society, demonstrating resilience, solidarity, and a deep love for life. From frontline towns where Roma activists provide humanitarian aid, to cultural events that celebrate Roma music, dance, and art – together we are building a world where every voice is heard.
